This original wuxia drama draws inspiration from classic traditional wuxia and historical novels, HongKong wuxia cinema and Japanese chanbara films. It seeks to recreate in a new era the boldyettender, lifeanddeathbound martialarts realm etched into collective memory, with the aid of AI. The 29th year of the Jiajing reign. Iron prison gates of the Imperial Jail are wrenched open from within. Duan Hui bursts out of darkness into blinding daylight. He holds but one resolve: to find his daughter Mingzhu. He fights his way out of the prison and chases across scorched outskirts of the capital, cutting down pursuers, unravelling clues, pursuing a receding figure vanishing ahead. Meanwhile, Mingzhu strikes at the empire by another path. At sixteen, the disgraced official’s daughter is cast into the Imperial Pleasure Quarter. She climbs upward by orchestrating divine omens. Within the shadowy crevices of imperial power, wielding the mask of a deity as her blade, she carves out a path for survival. Set against the imperial court of the Jiajing era and animated by the soul of the wuxia underworld, this is a world where profit and power serve as currency.
