Ghost Haunts the Brotherhood’s Life

In a sweltering city in the deep south, there stands a real estate agency with an unusual specialty: haunted properties. Its name: Sunflower Realty. The owner, Fang Xiangyang — whose name means “facing the sun”— is a smooth talker with a shrewd glint in his eye. But beneath that polished exterior an extraordinary gift: by touching objects left behind by the dead, he can piece together fragments of their most painful and harrowing memories. His employee, Gu Wan, is pale-skinned, soft-spoken, and deceptively fragile-looking. Yet he possesses a pair of fists made for taking on the supernatural. Silent, steadfast, and more familiar with Xiangyang than anyone else, he stays close at his side like a personal bodyguard. Then there’s Guo Fa, who works as both a realtor and a hearse driver for the local crematorium, giving him access to first-hand information on deaths across the city. He is easily frightened, but the commission is too good to pass up, so he keeps getting dragged into life-threatening dangers. Together, the three move through the city's forgotten corners — urban villages, old mansions, villas, apartment blocks, abandoned factories, funeral parlor — all manner of properties marked by strange deaths. They “cleanse”these unsellable haunted houses, and in doing so, come face to face with the dark underbelly that most never see. At every traditional Nam Mo funeral ritual, they seem almost fated to cross paths with the supernatural, each encounter pulling them deeper into the secrets, regrets, and obsessions left behind by the dead. Over time, they come to realize that what traps a spirit is never simply the divide between life and death. Every ghost was once a living person, and behind every haunted house is often a broken family. They cleanse the haunted houses, break the obsessions that bind the dead — and ultimately, guide the living forward.
