The Zed Family
No one knows since when, but humans and zombies have been living together in the city. Humans enjoy the daytime, while once night falls, it’s the zombies’ time. The Zed family is a Viking zombie clan living in a coastal city. Dad Frank is the dock foreman—he schedules shifts, oversees loading and unloading, handles all kinds of cargo damage and missing shipments, and also deals with various strange “zombie specialty” goods. Mom Vera is a private surgeon who repairs the limbs of zombies that frequently come unstitched. She never tires of suturing; her greatest passion is trying to assemble hands, arms, legs, and feet of every type and texture, and she rejects metal prosthetics. Their eldest daughter Luna is in junior high. She’s smart and does well in school, but her way of solving problems is extremely single-minded: punching your head until it explodes. Lately, though, she seems to have developed a crush on a human girl. Younger brother Pip is the family clown—his laughing nerves are extraordinarily well-developed, so even when he gets beaten he just keeps laughing nonstop. He’s a detective fanatic, and his favorite everyday activity is tracking down the owners of accidentally lost severed limbs. This is the Zed family. Their biggest dream is to move to the City of Eternal Night, where it’s nighttime 24 hours a day, so they never have to “get up early.” No matter what difficulties life throws at them, the Zeds keep working hard to overcome every challenge, earn a living, support the family, and enjoy life!
