In a coastal city, the unexpected escape of a tiger from the local zoo shatters the quiet life of a high school student, Lin Xi. What frightens her even more is the inexplicable transformation taking place in her own body: she is gradually developing the traits of a shark, leading her to despise herself and even attempt to end her life. At a critical moment, her classmate Cheng Fei saves her. But this seemingly ordinary boy has a secret of his own: he is a “bird-man,” struggling to learn how to conceal his identity. Searching for the cause of their transformations, Lin Xi, Cheng Fei, and their classmate Dong Xiaoyu gradually come together. Dong Xiaoyu possesses physical abilities resembling those of a chameleon. Three teenagers who were once strangers become the only people capable of understanding one another, bound by secrets they cannot explain to ordinary people. As they track the escaped tiger and investigate the faint connections between the zoo and their school, they gradually discover that what they call “beastification” is not an accidental illness. Beneath the city exists a secret mutual-aid organization. It once helped people who had been rejected by society because of their transformations, but over time it evolved into an extremist organization that worships beastification and seeks to reshape human society. Those behind the organization believe that animal life is purer than human life, and they seek to use beastification to attain a form of life beyond death. Meanwhile, Bai, who has always protected the children, is hiding an identity of his own: he is also a TRAUMA MONSTER. As the truth gradually emerges, Lin Xi is forced to confront a fundamental question: if the human body is destined to change, does becoming a beast-person mean losing oneself—or finally finding oneself? In their search for answers, the three teenagers come to realize for the first time that what they truly need to fight may not be the animal within their bodies, but the world that demands they become “normal.”
